On 12th January 2015 Revenue published their preliminary results for 2014.
Revenue have identified an abuse of the Capital Acquisition Tax exemption in respect of payments for support, maintenance and education. Finance Act 2014 has amended the legislation to counteract this abuse “where large capital gifts to children were being claimed as payments for support, maintenance or education”.
